My first running race was quite memorable...
...because I was the first kid to get his ribbon.

Reading to Grandpa
My preschool teacher gave me a book at the end of the school year. Grandpa asked me to read it to him before he went to bed.

I Saw My Daddy Cry Today
Last year on Memorial Day I mastered my balance bike. Talk about a great memory! The thing I'll remember about Memorial Day this year is that I saw my Daddy shed a tear. I don't understand why...all I did was go for a little bike ride.
Next year for Memorial Day I think maybe I'll go for a ride on Moab's famous Slickrock Trail.

Dump Truck Hits Tree
Last Summer my cousins and I watched as a dump truck trying to load up a dumpster accidentally hit a tree branch. We all shouted at the driver to stop, but he kept going. We shouted louder, and pointed at the tree, some of us were waving and jumping up and down, but he still kept going. Finally the branch broke with a bang and fell on the truck. Dad grabbed me and we all ran for cover.
I'll never forget that day. It was so memorable, in fact, that I have been talking about it for almost a year now. Lately I've been having Mom, Dad, Grandpa, and anybody else who's willing, draw trucks for me--lots and lots of trucks. I like trucks of all kinds, especially garbage trucks and tractor trailers, but my favorite thing to have drawn for me is the dump truck hitting a tree.
All that watching has got me started drawing too, and tonight I drew the scene of that fateful day in July when the dump truck hit the tree. Dad wanted me to tell you about my drawing:

I Knew It All Along
Mom and Dad took me to the hospital again last week. I thought I was going to get more medicine, so I tried my best to be brave. I asked Dad to draw some pictures of garbage trucks in the waiting room. He draws a pretty good garbage truck.
Instead of getting medicine, a lady took us into a little room with a bed for Mom. Dad said we were going to watch a special video, so he held me in his lap and showed me where to watch. Then Dad asked me if I was going to have a baby brother or baby sister. "Baby Brother", I said, still hoping there were going to be garbage trucks in the video.
The lady showed us a picture of what looked to me like a space alien, but Mom and Dad said it was cute. What do you think?
Then she showed us another picture, and said "Wred was right."
Of course I was right. Why don't they ever listen to me? Mom asked me what we should name my little brother, and I said "Brown". We continued watching and after a while I realized there would be no garbage trucks in this video, so I got kind of bored and fidgety. Apparently my baby brother got bored too:
Mom and Dad say I have to wait until the 30th of May to find out if he likes garbage trucks. He'd better, but if he doesn't I'll know he really is a space alien.
